- Beach outing in Monterey, California, on October 24, 2026. Set up on sand, with a walk from the parking lot to our beach spot. This report covers that outing, not long-term durability.

Earned its place
Both chairs folded easily into the carry bag, making the walk from the parking lot to our beach spot simple. That’s the biggest selling point for me: two proper seats without an awkward pile of gear to carry.
Setup and folding weren’t immediately intuitive. But after reading the instructions and trying it once, neither was difficult.
Reality check
The X-shaped legs felt less stable in the sand than other chairs I’ve tried. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but if beach days are your main use, this might not be your chair.
It’s also a little less comfortable than some of the more expensive chairs I’ve used. For me, the price and ease of transport more than make up for that.
Pack it if
Overlanders who move often, pack around a rooftop tent, and want a compact chair that’s easy to bring along. That’s how I travel: I don’t tend to spend a lot of time in one spot.
Leave it if
You’re setting up in one spot for several days and want the recliner of camping chairs—or you’ll mostly use it on soft sand.
The campfire verdict
For the way I travel, this is the perfect chair. Easy packing and carrying matter more to me than maximum lounge comfort. Learn the fold once, and it makes sense.
That’s my takeaway from this beach outing. I’d choose something different for a longer stay where lounging is the priority.
